About me

Hello, Amy here! A Yorkshire lass through and through, I was born and raised in North Yorkshire and now live in South Yorkshire, with my husband and our very cheeky giant house rabbit.

I have always been drawn to writing and design, pursuing Journalism at university then working in communications, marketing and graphic design across the public and charity sectors.

I fell in love with wedding design when planning my own wedding in 2017. We couldn’t quite find the right products, so I created all of our stationery and decorations - and the reaction from guests and suppliers was amazing! It gave me the confidence to start planning my own creative stationery business, and here we are today.

Having our friends and family come together for our wedding day truly was the best day of my life, made all the more special by all of our bespoke details. Now being able to create designs for other people’s big days is the icing on the cake!

Today I work as a Senior Graphic Designer, with almost ten years of experience in communications and design. I spend most of my time outside the day job working on Sixpence Creative from my home studio. I love to dream up special, creative and quirky ideas and bring them to life, and have lots of exciting plans for the future - so watch this space...

I love to find vintage props to style shoots (when I'm not borrowing my mum's antiques!) and have a growing collection.

About Sixpence Creative

I first launched my stationery business with a range of styles, under the name Creatively Wed. I am a lover of all things vintage, and was so happy my vintage designs proved most popular in my first year of business!

This inspired me to take the plunge and specialise in vintage and quirky stationery. I took a short break to develop new designs and rebrand to Sixpence Creative - keeping the "creative" in the name but with a vintage twist!

I love to research and create stationery inspired by bygone eras. There's something so personal about paper communications, from a suitor writing their name in a dance card, to telegrams delivered by messenger, or even a scandal sheet hot off the press!

Every customer is different, so I tailor each price quote to your individual needs. I also list items individually on my quotes, be it envelopes or wax seals, so the pricing is completely transparent and you can see what works within your budget. You can easily purchase a sample pack from my Etsy shop, then get in touch with a few details for a quote.

I have a real passion for paper products and I am committed to sustainability. I take great care to use eco-friendly materials where possible in my products and packaging - find out more in my FAQs as well as the material spotlight on each product page.

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and a Silver Sixpence in Your Shoe...

Many of us have heard the start of the above phrase - did you know it ends with "And a Sixpence in Your Shoe"? The tradition of placing a sixpenny in the bride's left shoe started in the 17th Century as part of the dowry gift to the groom, and over time it has come to symbolise good fortune and luck.

The sixpence design in the Sixpence Creative logo is derived from a real sixpence from 1905, from the Royal Mint. I also use lots of handcrafted vintage fonts as well as century-old authentic illustrations.

Every detail within the look and feel of Sixpence Creative has been carefully considered to reflect the letter writing and postal systems of times gone by - including my brand colours:

Green - the first postboxes were green to blend in with the countryside (though soon changed to an easier-to-find red!)

Blue - we've covered that one - "Something Blue". Blue also relate to the second ever official postal stamp, the Two Penny Blue...

... which followed the first ever postal stamp, the Penny Black, introduced right here in the UK.

Amy designed our wedding invitations and we were delighted with them. Throughout the process, Amy was fantastic. She responded quickly and had the designs ready for us in no time at all. We would definitely recommend her.
